In celebration of America's 250th anniversary, Museum of Illusions DC will unveil a major new immersive art installation by internationally recognized artist Marwan Chamaa, opening July 4, 2026.
Created exclusively for Museum of Illusions DC, the installation will transform the Museum through a wall mural and a series of suspended elements that explore themes of freedom, unity, identity, and the evolving American story. The experience will extend into the Museum's Infinity Room, where a flag-inspired installation and hanging components will create a powerful visual tribute to the nation's milestone celebration.
Curated by Lina Alattar, the exhibition brings together contemporary art and immersive storytelling, inviting visitors to reflect on the past 250 years of American history while envisioning the future through creativity, diversity, and innovation.
Artistic elements will be incorporated throughout the Museum, including the iconic Ames Room and other signature exhibits, creating a museum-wide experience that connects contemporary art with the Museum of Illusions' mission of challenging perception and inspiring curiosity.
The exhibition will debut on July 4 and is expected to remain on view throughout the summer, with the possibility of an extended run through the end of 2026 as part of the nationwide America 250 celebrations.
"This exhibition is an invitation to experience America's story through art, imagination, and perspective," said curator Lina Alattar. "By combining Marwan Chamaa's artistic vision with the immersive environment of Museum of Illusions DC, we hope to create a space for reflection, dialogue, and inspiration."
